Tattered clothes, worn out boots, hats upon hats, masking taped fingers and the most amazing eyes that truly are the mirror to his soul, only begin to describe Hippie Tom.
He is fun, pensive, loving, kind, artistic and a whole lot quirky. He is also "one of a kind" that survived the conformist society and is still a free spirit who has never thought inside the box or colored inside the lines. He is always defining himself as an artist, yet creating a successful life.
He loves all things, especially found objects and appreciates their flaws that have prompted others to get rid of them. To say that he sees possibilities in everything is not an overstatement and that parting with his "stuff" is a struggle, as he wants to be sure they are going to homes that will cherish them as he has.
Appearing on American Pickers was a thrill and a bit of a shock as it was so unexpected. It has been the adventure of a lifetime and has catapulted this collector and somewhat shy guy into the limelight. He has always enjoyed life on the farm in Waterford, Wisconsin with his wife, Sharon, two Catahoulas named Peetey and Bennie and three aging horses. There is always something to keep him busy, but never too busy to go looking for more treasures or to perhaps join Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz for more fun.
The best way to explain Hippie Tom is through photography. We've tried to include as many as possible that truly capture and communicate where words fall short.
Just remember: love, peace and happiness... and, he loves you man!

As mentioned on the American Pickers web site, this isn't your grandmother's antiquing. Pickers like Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz have been on a mission to recycle America, even if it means diving into countless piles of grimy junk or getting chased off a gun-wielding homeowner's land. Hitting back roads from coast to coast, the two men earn a living by restoring forgotten relics to their former glory and transforming one person's trash into another's treasure.
American Pickers follows them as they scour the country for hidden gems in junkyards, basements, garages and barns, meeting quirky characters and hearing their amazing stories. If you think the antique business is all about upscale boutiques and buttoned-up dealers, this show may change your mind... and teach you a thing or two about American history along the way.
